What Is The Prince George Genealogical Society?

We are a group of men and women who meet to discuss our successes and failures while researching our genealogies. Our ancestors came from all over the world, and in our hunt to find them, we gratefully receive the support, encouragement, and ideas that our fellow members can provide to us.

Beyond the practical advice and support the club also has a well stocked Library, which is open to members on club nights. This library contains reference books, directories, and genealogical periodicals from all over the world.

As well, the PGGS sponsors special activities to aid researchers, such as a Family History Seminar in the fall, and organizing/providing access to genealogy research tours. The club also publishes a quarterly newsletter called Tree Tracer, which includes interesting snippets about Prince George and area history, articles of interest to genealogists, queries from genealogists elsewhere, regarding people who lived in our area, trivia, member news, and more. Submissions from all members are welcome.

We meet on the third Tuesday of each month, from September through June, at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 1500 Edmonton St., Prince George. The Library is open to members at 7:00 pm and meetings begin at 7:30 pm. We offer a variety of activities and speakers throughout the season. The executive meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month and the location will be announced at the general meetings. All paid members are urged to attend both meetings.

Upcoming meetings and Special Events that are happening are announced at regular meetings and on our Club News & Views page as well as in the Coming Events column of The Citizen. The club is always looking for new ideas for activities and/or guest speakers and YOUR input could be invaluable.

We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and please come back often to check for changes, additions, new members, and added surnames.
